FAQ’s

  • I will provide you with a safe and confidential environment where you can share your experiences, thoughts and feelings. Listening attentively and non-judgmentally, together we can explore thoughts and feelings, concerns, worries, anything you wish to bring. If you can explore your feelings, you may be able to understand them better.

  • Person Centred counselling is an approach developed by Psychologist Carl Rogers. Roger's theory is that given the right conditions and support individuals will know what it is they need. I aim to walk alongside you on your journey, supporting you and being with you whatever feeling you express. I will endeavour to understand things from your perspective. I will provide you with empathy and will accept you without judgement.

  • This type of therapy was formed in the 1950's & 1960's and therefore has really stood the test of time. There have been several studies which have shown the effectiveness of this approach.

Our relationship is important in our work. To help a therapeutic relationship of trust to develop I will provide you with a safe, non-judgemental space where you can feel comfortable to bring your difficulties and express your feelings. If you can explore difficult thoughts and feelings in session, then you may be able to experience how life would be outside of therapy. If you feel heard and understood you may feel more confident and empowered to move forward in life.

  • Sessions last for 50 minutes.

  • I can offer either to suit your needs.

  • This question is difficult to answer. Each of us is a unique individual with different experiences and difficulties. As mentioned above, our relationship is important in enabling you to feel heard and understood, for this reason sessions at regular intervals facilitate the growth of our relationship. I offer short term and long-term work. Therapists believe in client autonomy, the decision of how many sessions you want and when you wish to end will be yours.

  • Sessions last 50 minutes, and cost £55

Concessionary rates of £50 are available, please ask me for further details.

  • Everything we talk about will be confidential. Clients are given a unique identifier and any notes are limited.

There are some limitations to the level of confidentiality I can offer. If I was to learn during our time together that you or others are at risk of serious harm, then we may need to discuss breaking the confidentiality of our arrangement.

  • This is an important consideration when choosing a therapist.

I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. On average training takes 5 years to complete. Individuals do not get awarded a diploma without first completing 100 hours of client work and at least 30 hours of personal therapy. As members we are required to undertake 30 hours of CPD (Continuing professional development) annually. I have also completed the BACP Certificate of Proficiency. This additional test recognizes my ability to work ethically and safely with clients.

  • I would hope that we would be able to resolve any difficulties between us however if this is not possible, I am a registered member of BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists). BACP members must work within the BACP code of ethics. The code can be found on the BACP website and sets out how my governing body manages complaints. Full details can be found on the BACP website.
